How to read this
- Major periods are about two hours around the moon passing overhead or underfoot. Minor periods are about an hour around moonrise and moonset. Many anglers and hunters report more activity then, most of all when a period lines up with sunrise or sunset.
- Days near new and full moon are rated higher, days near the quarter moons lower. Falling pressure ahead of a front raises today's rating, a sharp rise lowers it, and strong wind lowers it.
- This is folklore with some support from people who spend their time outdoors, not a measured science. Weather, water level, season and the local animals matter more. Informational only; follow your state's seasons, limits and licence rules, and stay safe on the water and in the field.
